The Dark Crystal is an iconic film of the 1980s, but one often forgotten when discussing the adventure fantasy film genre. Jim Henson and Frank Oz, giants among the world of puppetry and animatronics, pioneered numerous techniques during the making of this movie. With such a dark and surreal visual style, it’s no wonder the movie get’s misunderstood so often. But now with the new Netflix prequel in production, does the original stand up to the test of time or is it in need of a refresh?
